Greg Poole, Jr. All Faiths Chapel
The Greg Poole, Jr. All Faiths Chapel was the first project completed at Dorothea Dix Park since the City of Raleigh purchased the former mental health hospital from the State of North Carolina. The chapel’s mid-century architecture was maintained throughout the renovation and included decorative wood elements, a rose stained-glass window, terrazzo floors, and mid-century stainless fixtures. Our team preserved the original lounge railings, original stain glass, the Nave sawtooth walls, the Narthex’s original terrazzo, and the millwork paneling throughout the building, all to retain its character. The artwork in the foyer, created by Artist Christopher Holt, is a special remembrance of those who lived and worked on the Dix grounds. The Chapel is now already being booked for community events, weddings, business meetings and celebrations, serving residents of the city and beyond. It also pays homage to the past, honoring the memory of those who lived, worked, and were treated at Dorothea Dix.
