Albert J. Ellis Airport Runway
The runway rehabilitation project at the Albert J. Ellis Airport included milling asphalt from the existing runway, laying a 54-inch pipe across the runway and paving the 7,000-foot long runway back during a 60-hour Federal Aviation Administration shutdown of the runway. To accomplish the task, Barnhill Contracting Company employed the latest technology including four pavers outfitted with GPS systems and four Millimeter GPS lasers on the ground to ensure the strictest accuracy.
