Phase I of the Tanglewood Development includes 450 acres located west of the Albemarle Sound in Elizabeth City. When fully built out, the project will include more than 6,700 acres of mixed use development— commercial office, retail, hospitality, industrial and manufacturing and residential.  Barnhill Contracting Company completed the site infrastructure for the first phase of the project and Tanglewood Parkway which accesses the first commercial areas, which include the retail anchor Wal-Mart.
