UNC Chapel Hill 440 West Franklin Data Center
The 440 West Franklin Street project included extensive renovations and complete system upgrades to the UNC Chapel Hill Data Center located in a group of buildings in Chapel Hill’s historic district. The project consolidated the university’s Administrative Information Services (AIS) Department, which was previously housed both at 440 West Franklin and in other satellite locations. The computer operations center is the heart of the project and facilitates the entire campus information system. The data center remained fully operational while renovations were underway. The renovated facility houses offices, conference rooms, and training facilities for the AIS department and the design maintains the historical context of the building.
