Central Carolina Community College Sustainable Technologies Building

The Sustainable Technologies Building is situated on nine acres adjacent to the Chatham County Library on the Central Carolina Community College Campus. The building includes 22,000 SF and includes classroom and laboratory space for the college’s degree programs in Alternative Energy Technology, Biofuels and Sustainable Agriculture.

The Sustainable Technologies Building was awarded LEED Platinum certification by the US Green Building Council. Sustainable features include the use of extensive daylighting and a vegetated roof on the structure as well as an integrated biological water treatment system. Brown water is treated to provide for toilets, the cooling tower as well as irrigation. This innovative project provides an aggressive approach to stormwater design and treatment.
