Barnhill Contracting Company joins Balfour Beatty Construction as a joint-venture partner for the Wake County Justice Center. The project will measure 500,000 square feet over eleven stories and is located in downtown Raleigh, adjacent to the existing Public Service Building. The Justice Center will incorporate 24 courtrooms, courtroom support office space and two parking levels with 175 spaces.

The project is being designed and constructed with the intent of obtaining LEED certification. LEED features include energy efficient heating and cooling systems, water conservation and natural lighting systems. The project will also reuse materials from the existing structures that were demolished and incorporate materials local to North Carolina to reduce transportation costs.

Architects for the project are HOK of Washington, DC and O'Brien/Atkins Associates of Research Triangle Park, NC. The project is slated for completion in 2013.
