Watauga High School is scheduled to open in October 2010. The project includes a new, 3-story high school situated on 89 acres. Design features include a radius roof dominant massing element, curtain walls and a central commons area. The high school is designed as "Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR" and is LEED gold registered and will achieve 38% in energy reduction. The project also includes football stadium with a track, soccer stadium, field house and concession areas as well as tennis courts, baseball and softball facilities. Construction includes steel frame structure, concrete masonry unit walls, metal stud and gypsum board walls, masonry veneer, aluminum windows and aluminum and hollow metal doors.
