CARRBORO HIGH SCHOOL
CARRBORO, NORTH CAROLINA
Carrboro High School welcomed students in August 2007 and is registered as a LEED project by the Unites States Green Building Council. The school was designed using several high performance system strategies: *rainwater reuse system which is construced using a 100,000 gallon underground cistern with overflow to a deep storage pond that collects rainwater to be reused throughout the building *solar powered hot water system *Energy Star® compliant, highly reflective roof membrane to reduce heat islands and help cool the building, and *daylighting throughout entire second floor and parts of the first floor. The school measures 148,000 square feet and accommodates 1,200 students.
